We reviewed figurative language, focusing on metaphors for this writing project. We created 3-stanza poems, including 15 lines of metaphors. Each metaphor described a connection to the special women in our lives relating to foods, activities, things, and places we've shared. Enjoy our poetry and happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day from Casey     May 2007

She is a clock, keeping track of time
She is a book, always having something to say
She is an ocean, casting bad times away
She is a frame, hugging her loved ones

My nanny is silk, soft in the heart
She is a smile, and makes me a smile too
She is a hair-band, keeping things in place
She is a shelf, carrying me around
